Miss K is two years old! Part One:

Sunday was Karina’s second birthday.  We had a great day first at Sunday School and church, and then celebrating with both sets of grandparents.  I thought you all might like to see some of the highlights of the first part of the day (more to come later when Mommy gets some much-needed sleep!):

Oh Great Pumpkin, where are you??

Today Miss K and I went on an adventure to the “Pumpkin Patch” at the nursery in Centertown.  I’d never been to the pumpkin part of the nursery (which is one of my favorite places), so it was a new experience for both of us.

The K-monster wasn’t really in the mood for the posed photo opps (it was a long ride in the car and she was ready to MOVE), so these are the best “posed” pictures that we took there:

Her attention in the pictures above  is on the HORSES (and the burro) that were off to the left.  When she saw them, she really got interested in our adventure:

Why, yes, horsie---I AM adorable!

After visiting the horses, we wandered over to the straw maze.  We also decided that straw is FUN (but it doesn’t taste very good).

Unlike our kitties, this kitty will let you pet him---but he’s not very friendly:

We came home with one, Karina-sized pumpkin.  It was fun, and we had fun playing on the slide inside the maze—but more pictures of that next time!

For Auntie Susan…

Ok, so I grew up watching Lawrence Welk.  My sister learned to play the accordion because of Myron Florin who was the accordion player on the Lawrence Welk Show.  We have this terrible inside joke about Cheryl Merrill on the Christmas Special.

So---this was the scene at our house last night.  It looks like the legacy lives on.  She looks a little like she’s just bored, but there was no way that I could distract her:

Girls’ Day Out…somehow Miss K is typing….?

Hi Everybody!  I decided that I can push buttons on this thing like Mommy and Daddy and tell you about my exciting trip with Mommy.  Tuesday Mommy had to go to Springfield so that she could visit the orthodontist (who is mean and makes her teeth hurt :-)  She decided (with some prompting from Auntie Susan) to take me with her.

We left Monday evening and spent the night at Brad and Susan’s new house.  I got to pet Chabba the dog and see her bed bed bed (I should probably mention here that when I say some words I sound like I am from the deep South.  “Dog” is one of them.  When I say it, I sound like Foghorn Leghorn.  Think “Daaaawgh”.  Ok back to the story).  Then I played with Brad and Susan and then I slept (eventually) in Jack’s big bed.  I had fun.  I’m not sure that Mommy slept alot, though.

In the morning I got up super-early (because I was excited) and decided that the first thing I wanted to do was try on the cow costume that Auntie Susan was passing on to me from one of the boys:

It is still a little big, but I don’t care---it was nice and snuggly.  Mommy said it made my drinking milk very ironic:

After that, we got dressed and Auntie Susan and I took Mommy to the tooth guy.  Then Auntie Susan took me to hair lady and she cut my bangs.

Then we picked up Mommy, had brunch and then went shopping for SHOES.   SHOES is one of my favorite words.  I love them, and I love the shoe store.  I tried on LOTS of shoes and some fun boots, too:

I also found a cool thing in some of the shoe box packing that makes the neatest hat—don’t you think?

Oh, and then I was having so much fun that I danced in the shoe store:

After that, we did even MORE shopping at the mall, I took a nap in my stroller (in Coldwater Creek), and then we went to the party store for stuff.  Finally, we went back to Auntie Susan’s and Uncle Brad’s house, where I got to see the chickens in the neighbor’s backyard:

Oooops—better go!  Mommy’s headed this way and I’m supposed to be asleep!  Shhh!

Just a normal Sunday here at Casa Burbee (Pictures)

Yesterday was busy, but in retrospect it was just a normal day.  Karina and I played with Mary in the nursery during Sunday School (well, most of Sunday School---they had snacks before Sunday School and the K Monster ate 2 muffins, plus part of Daddy’s coffeecake):

Then, yesterday afternoon there was a hayride and a bonfire---Miss K had a hot dog that Daddy cooked for her on a STICK (one of our words) and came home covered in chocolate and hayride glory:
